Premier league draft game

This is a draft game, totally unrelated to FPL. 16 people will be needed or 8 if there isn’t enough interest.

How the game works:

  • You take turns to pick 11 players to make up a team and then they “play” against another team and the winner is decided by other people voting for the team they think would win the game.
  • The picks would be chosen like this (this is an example using 4 random players):This is the order, drawn at random, of the order of the first draft pick.
  • Player A – First
  • Player B – Second
  • Player C – Third
  • Player D – Fourth
  • So by the end of round one each of us should have one player on our team. The order of the second draft pick would be
  • Player D – First
  • Player C – Second
  • Player B – Third
  • Player A – Fourth
  • After this round each team should have two players. In the third round the picks go in the same order as the first pick with Player A first and the fourth round the picks would go in the same order as the second pick, with Player D first and so on until each person has picked 11 players. Then, they’ll put them into a team in any formation they choose and justify their decisions for picking certain players. Their team will then be pitted against someone else’s team in a ‘match’

Rules:

1. Team of 11 players

2. One team can’t have more than 3 players from the same club. (Note: If a player has played for more than 1 club, then the club where he has made the most appearances with will be counted. But when judging the players performance,  any of his clubs can be used).

3. Player must have played at least 30 games in the premier league. Any player can be chosen that has played in the premier league since it’s inception up to and including players from the end of the 2011-12 season. New players this season such as Hazard, Cazorla & Kagawa e.t.c therefore can’t be chosen.

4. Players will be judged at their best in the Premier League

5. The person who picks last on turn 1 will get 2 picks, and the order will reverse etc (so there’s not a big disadvantage in whatever position you pick)

6. I’ll use a random number generator to determine order.

7. You’ll have 24 hours to pick a player – if you miss the deadline the next person will get the pick and you choose 2 players on your next go).

8. Straight knock out (hence only 8 or 16 people)

9. Separate articles will be created announcing each fixture and each article will have a poll where people can vote for who they think will win the game. Participants are expected to post on the article relevant to them, outlining their formation and justifications for choosing the players in their team.

  2. Me please.

I notice that you say 24 hours per player pick. Wont it take ages for us all to have teams?

      • Could do that but no guarantee everyone participating will be online at the exact times.

    • Thinking about this a little bit more, no thx I havent been a proper fan of the prem for long enough.

    • Yeah, it’s just to make sure that people have enough time to choose their pick as i want to try and avoid people missing their go if possible. But you can still pick as soon as you want, you just have to wait for it to be your go. So it won’t always be 24 hours for each person to pick a player if you’re all online/attentive.
